One of the most common questions we hear from adults in Riverview: 'Am I too old to start Judo?' The short answer is no. The longer answer involves understanding how adult beginners train differently, and why that is actually an advantage.
Technique Over Athleticism
Judo rewards timing, leverage, and precision. A 35-year-old who listens and drills consistently will outperform a younger student who relies on strength alone.
Training Smart
Adult beginners learn breakfalls first, progress gradually into partner work, and train with partners who match their experience level. Youth and adult programs are taught with age-appropriate coaching and pacing.
The Fitness Will Come
You do not need to be in shape to start. Judo builds cardiovascular endurance, core strength, and flexibility over time. Showing up twice a week is the only prerequisite.
